Skegs, foremast lowered   The foremast lowered back in the skegs; this was done to prevent a 'pendulum motion' being set up by the very heavy foremast, while the boat was drifting with the nets out. Such wallowing motion could easily damage the net gear.

The block and wedge that keep the mast upright are on the deck, as well as some of the fore sheet tackle.

The eye-bolt for the main halyard is at lower left.

The hole in the deck aft of the skegs covers the pump riser.
